GST Topic on X is gaining momentum on X
Tech industry executive Prakash Advani asks Elon Musk: why don’t X Premium invoices in India include GST?
His point is simple: if X earns revenue from Indian users, it should pay Indian taxes.
My take on this is that it's all the game of the Stripe gateway. Some of the Western companies use Stripe and keep their office outside India to bypass the law. Their platform will say that prices may include GST, however, the GST number is not shown on the invoice.
Then the government has to issue a notice and fight to collect the GST. It takes years and by that time, these companies earn a lot of interest by parking that money in bonds.
