In a few days from now, Delhi-NCR could see air quality deteriorate as winter approaches, bringing back its annual pollution crisis.
The government has announced 167 water sprinklers, 28 mobile anti-smog guns, stricter vehicle-emission checks and construction curbs to tackle pollution.
But the real challenge is implementation.
Authorities must:
• control road dust
• expand public transport
• prevent stubble and waste burning
• take strict action against polluting industries
Delhi-NCR’s pollution cannot be tackled through seasonal restrictions alone.
Governments across Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states must coordinate their efforts and act before AQI levels become hazardous.
Clean air should be a year-round priority, not an emergency response every winter
