In 2002, amid mounting instances of deities being caricatured or disparaged within mass media, a group of concerned Hindus convened to examine the deeper predicament confronting Hindu Dharma. Their deliberations revealed a disquieting paradox. Although many Hindus remained devout, widespread unawareness had weakened their capacity to recognise, articulate, and resist threats to their religious civilisation. From this realisation emerged the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, formally established on Ghatasthapana, the inaugural day of Navaratri, in 2002. As a grassroots, nonprofit movement, disseminate dharmic knowledge, rekindle collective religious consciousness, safeguard Bharat, and consolidate Hindu society around the aspiration of establishing Bharat as a Hindu Rashtra.
