While we sleep peacefully at home, thousands of soldiers remain awake in some of the country's toughest regions, protecting a life most of us take for granted. The recent Ladakh incident sparked outrage after a tourist, frustrated by a security-related delay, questioned why personnel were paid with taxpayers' money and reportedly dismissed the situation as “nonsense.” The Army later clarified that the confrontation was at a police checkpoint. Questioning authority is a right. Disrespecting those serving the country is not. Our taxes may fund their salaries, but they can never buy the courage and sacrifice behind that uniform.
