📌 Big news: Now the game of local and inferior mobile screen guards is over📱❌
Do you also buy local tempered glass for ₹50-₹100 to protect your expensive smartphone screen? Then this news is very important for you! The Government of India (MeitY) has issued new mandatory BIS certification rules for mobile screen protectors.
🗓️ When will this new rule come into effect? This rule will be fully implemented across the country from April 1, 2027. After this, selling screen protectors that do not meet government standards will be illegal.
đź’ˇ What will change?
ISI Mark Mandatory: Now, every screen guard and tempered glass package will be required to have BIS certification and the ISI mark.
Strict Quality Testing (IS 19348:2025): Under the new government-set standards, glass thickness, strength (shatter resistance), fingerprint-preventing oleophobic coating, and blue-light filtering will be rigorously tested.
Import Control: Substandard, cheap screen guards from China and other countries will no longer be allowed entry without testing.
🛡️ What will customers benefit from?
Real Safety: Local glass used to damage the screen when broken, and it also had a negative impact on the eyes. Now, only safe and certified glass will be available.
Improved Touch and Display Life: The screen's touch response will not be impaired.
Do-it-yourself Testing: You can instantly check whether a screen guard is genuine or fake by entering the package's registration number on the BIS Care App.
⚠️ Note: Due to stricter testing and certification requirements, screen protectors may see a price increase of up to 20% in the future. But this is minor compared to the protection you provide for your phone and eyes.
