🚨 BIG CHANGES coming to online shopping in India!
Govt notified new E-Commerce Rules — effective 1 Jan 2027
Here's what changes
1️⃣ No more fake discounts — "prior price" = lowest price in last 30 days, must be shown
2️⃣ Search results can't be manipulated to mislead you
3️⃣ Sponsored/paid listings must be clearly labeled
4️⃣ Dark patterns (fake urgency, hidden costs, forced subscriptions) — platforms must self-audit yearly + show compliance certificate
5️⃣ Seller info (identity, return policy, warranty) must be disclosed
6️⃣ Imported products must show country of origin + importer details
7️⃣ Your data can't be used without clear consent
8️⃣ Complaint copy must be given to you when you file a grievance
📊 Why it matters: NCH got 17.7 lakh complaints in 2025 — 29% were e-commerce related
This is the biggest consumer protection shake-up for Indian e-commerce yet.
