🚨 ISRO: Private Space Push Is Expansion, Not Privatisation
🇮🇳 ISRO has ruled out any move towards privatisation, saying the growing role of space-tech startups and private companies is aimed at expanding India’s space ecosystem, not replacing ISRO.
ISRO says it will continue to focus on advanced R&D, strategic missions, space science, exploration and frontier technologies, while industry takes a larger role in scaling mature technologies, manufacturing and commercialisation.
India now has 450+ space startups, with the space economy estimated at around $8.4 billion. The country is targeting a $44 billion space economy by 2033.
The message from ISRO:
> more private players
> bigger ecosystem
> stronger ISRO
