the last 5 years: 247,000 cases were filed under the SC/ST Act; only 20,210 cases ended in conviction; and as many as 34,300 were closed as false.
The Supreme Court, quick to flag the low conviction rate in UAPA cases, is mysteriously silent when it comes to the SC/ST act.
Same court. Two statues
UAPA: low conviction = national alarm.
SC/ST Act: 34,300 closed as false in 5 years = no order.
Protect victims. Penalise the proven lie. That is equality.
