Researchers at the Technical University of Munich have developed a modular, solar-powered system that converts carbon dioxide into amino acids. Published in Nature Communications, the breakthrough uses photovoltaic systems to split water into hydrogen, combines it with CO₂ to generate methanol, and uses specialized enzymes to systematically convert that methanol into protein building blocks.
