Physicists successfully recorded a duration of 247 zeptoseconds, which is \(10^{-21}\) seconds. This incredible milestone tracks how long it takes a single photon (particle of light) to cross a single hydrogen molecule. To grasp how short this is, a zeptosecond is to one second what one second is to about 31.7 billion years. The team, led by physicist Reinhard Dorner at Goethe University Frankfurt, made this discovery by shooting X-rays from the PETRA III accelerator at DESY in Hamburg.
